Overview Industrialization of PUREX reprocessing technology, from laboratory to commercial plant, is one of the great scientific triumphs of 20 th century. In this century, still many scientists and engineers in the world are studying reprocessing technologies not only for improving the operational issues such as safety, accountancy, economy but also for innovating the technology itself to fit future requirements such as the drastic reduction of waste burden, proliferation risk, investment risk, etc. In this session, state of the art of commercial plants and R&D programs for conventional or innovative reprocessing technology will be presented by world famous specialists.
Potential difficulties to industrialize these R&Ds for actual deployment as well as the solutions to fill the gap will be discussed based on lesson learnt from PUREX reprocessing plants.
